性质描述:

无色或微黄色透明液体，沸点190.5℃，相对密度0.858（19/4℃），折光率1.413（19℃），闪点72℃。能与醇和醚混溶，极微溶于水。与水形成共沸混合物（含该品25.9%)，共沸点为98.8℃。具有苹果和香蕉等水果香味。

生产方法:

将硫酸加于异戊酸和异戊醇的混合物中，加热回流，经分离后用碱液中和剩余的游离酸，再经蒸馏精制即得，或用重铬酸钾氧化异戊醇和浓硫酸的混合物，生成的异戊酸与异戊醇进行酯化反应而得。

用途:

主要用作食用香精。该品作为食品赋香剂使用范围很广，常用于调制苹果、香蕉、桃等果香型香精。食品中最大的用量约为500ppm，该品还可用于合成医药，溶剂。
