WDR54 (WD Repeat Domain 54) is a Protein Coding gene. The WDR54 gene, located on 2p13.1, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, and zebrafish. WDR54 is a member of the WD40 repeat (WDR) domain-containing protein family that was identified as a novel oncogene in colorectal cancer. WDR54 serves as an oncogene in colorectal cancer (CRC) and maybe a potential prognostic marker and therapeutic target. WD40 proteins are implicated in many functions including adaptor/regulatory modules in signal transduction, pre-mRNA processing, and cytoskeleton assembly. WDR54 is widely expressed in the testis, lung, and other tissues. An important paralog of this gene is WDR64.
